1) Cyperus Rotundus
The above collected information suggest that C. rotundus exhibits anti- obesity activity.Traditional uses of natural compounds, especially of plant origin received much attention as they are well tested for their efficacy and generally believed to be safe for human use. Thorough screening of literature available on C. rotundus depicted the fact that it is a popular remedy among the various ethnic groups, Ayurvedic and traditional practitioners for treatment of ailments. Researchers are exploring the therapeutic potential of this plant as it has more therapeutic properties which are not known.

2) Zingiber Officinale
Treatment with ginger had significant effect in reducing body weight. Ginger had the ability to reduce lipid profile, ginger had great effect in increasing HDL-cholesterol. When compared to the control group, ginger treatment did not alter either total bilirubin or pancreatic lipase activity.

3) Green Tea
Decreases in body weight, body mass index, body fat ratio, body fat mass, waist circumference, hip circumference, visceral fat area, and subcutaneous fat area were found to be greater in the catechin group than in the control group. A greater decrease in systolic blood pressure (SBP) was found in the catechin group compared with the control group for subjects whose initial SBP was 130 mm Hg or higher. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol was also decreased to a greater extent in the catechin group. No adverse effect was found.

5) Piper Longum
Pharmacological inhibition of acyl CoA diacylglycerol acyltransferase has emerged as a potential therapy for the treatment of obesity. Compounds containing piperidine groups are considered potential acyl CoA diacylglycerol acyltransferase inhibitors.

6) Valeriana Wallichii
Valeriana wallichii (Tagara) is used in Indian traditional system of medicine due to various medicinal properties. Recent researches suggest that it exhibits various properties like anxiolytic activity, anti stress activity, antidepressant activity, antispasmodic activity, hypotensive effect, sleep inducer activity and hepatotoxic activity. These evidences validate the ancient claim of Ayurveda regarding therapeutic potential of Valeriana wallichii.

7) Embelia Ribes
Embelia ribes Burm. f. belongs to the family Myrsinaceae found in hilly parts of India up to 1500 m. elevation from outer Himalayas to Western Ghats. It is an endangered medicinal plant valued for its digestive, carminative, anthelmintic and laxative property since time immemorial. It is also used in diabetes, heart related problems, nerval disorders, cancerous tumors and liver disorders. The seeds are also used for wound healing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and contraceptive activity. Due to over exploitation of this plant it is reported in red list data book as vulnerable [Ravikumar & Ved 2000]. Therefore an overview of this plant on pharmacognosy, pharmacology, safety and toxicity is presented below along with HPLC details of Embelin the active constituent of the seeds.
